Peter Kanitsch (In Memoriam)

It is with great sadness that the MBTW Group / Watchorn Architect Inc. announces the passing of our Partner and dear friend, Peter Kanitsch. Peter passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Tuesday July 8, 2008.

Peter was a landscape architect, urban designer and community planner. Peter's legacy includes spearheading MBTW’s strategic project planning, design and implementation of golf courses and golf lifestyle communities, masterplanned communites, as well as civic recreational facilities, parks, open space systems, trails and natural stormwater management features.

At MBTW, Peter led a team of creative and talented designers, working closely with recognized developers, the public, jurisdictional authorities and consultants to ensure issues were resolved early in decision-making, creating a smooth interface between design and implementation. His expertise in detailed technical design and contract administration was always valued.

Peter was always dedicated to creating places for people, emphasizing the journey as well as the experience of place. Project elements were fully integrated with site conditions such as views, vistas, microclimate and water. Peter believed in creating appealing, memorable design solutions with an authentic sense of place, working with the land to capitalize on the unique spirit and potential of each site and balancing human needs with environmental health and integrity.

Peter always pursued his personal vision of shaping the earth to make dreams come true and crafted respectful, appropriate design solutions. His inspiration came from the great masters. Like them, he relentlessly pushed the boundaries of his work in pursuit of great places for people to play.
